Our story begins in 1910, when Elmer C. St. John opened Jackson Granite Co. on the corner of East Michigan Ave. and State Street. In the 1920s a new building was constructed on Francis Street, across from the Woodland Cemetery Chapel, and the name was changed to Jackson Monument Works.
Throughout the years, Jackson Monument Works has grown into the full service business we are today.

Currently owned and operated by Elmer’s great grandson, Chris St. John. Chris purchased the business from his father, Elwood St. John after his retirement following 43 years in business.

At Jackson Monument Works, we pride ourselves in providing families with beautifully tailored monuments that help reflect the lives of their loved ones. Every step of the way we are there to help you express your creativity and build a lasting memorial.

Built on the principles of quality and service, our customized granite stones are shipped already cut and polished to shape to memorialize those dearest to you. We add designs and lettering to our customer’s specifications.
